That’s my configuration
1. OS: Windows 8.1 (64-bit, x64-based processor)
2. OpenOffice version: 4.2.0 (32 bit)
3. Word version: 2013 (32 bit)
I did the following to successfully replicate the bug:
1. I typed two lines of text (see image: Replication 1.)
2. I saved the file in a .doc format (Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP.) (A dialog
box popped up after saving, telling me I could lose content or formatting for
saving the file in a in a non-.odt format. I selected “Keep current [.doc]
format.”)
3. I closed Writer and opened the newly-saved file using Word.
4. The failure behaved differently depending on the view mode I selected:
a. Editing-enabled view: Failure scenario (A) is triggered.
b. Protected/Read-only view: Failure scenario (B) is triggered
Failure:
A. The last line of text that was visible in Writer’s editor is not visible
and cannot be highlighted when opened in Word (see screenshot: Failure A and
compare to screenshot: Replication 1)
B. The quantity of words that become no longer visible before indicating the
document’s end seems to vary depending on the window’s width (see screenshots:
Failure B1 through Failure Before B4)
Some notes:
• The bug is replicable on .doc files if they’re Windows 97/2000/XP. It is
not replicable on Windows 95 or Windows 6.0 .doc files.
• The bug is still replicable if the text used for (1) was copied from a
Word file instead of being generated by Writer.
• No relevant reports were found.
