Daniel Shahaf commented on SVN-4886:
------------------------------------

OK, so just for the sake of explicitness, we're saying that if someone has svn
1.15 and 1.16 clients side by side and they set {{compatible-version=1.16}} in
the configuration, the 1.15 client will not be able to do any checkouts unless
{{--compatible-version}} is explicitly passed. This effectively means all
third-party clients should add support for doing the equivalent of {{{}svn
checkout --compatible-version={}}}. Worth documenting in the release notes?

> Let the default "compatible version" be specified in the user config. (That
> is, the default version for 'checkout' and 'upgrade', which are the places
> where a version can be specified.)
> This configured version should be overridden by any '--compatible-version'
> command-line option.
