Java Developer with Strong Web Services Background. The client is looking for at least 7 years of Java Development experience with 3-5 years of Web Services. The position is in Denver, Pennsylvania which is 65 miles west of Philadelphia, PA and is expected to last for 5 months with a possible extension. The start date is ASAP.
The critical skills needed are: • Experienced Java developer (7+ years) • Deep web services experience (3-5 years) • Extensive Experience with jaxb, jax-ws, SOAP, WSDL, cxf, spring, ws-security • Good communications skills • Good team player The client has talked to many candidates that had “a little web services experience … did it once”. That won’t cut it. We have an established deadline for a large client and they are behind. They have an existing Web Services framework and are just adding new web services to it. They need someone that can come in and contribute immediately. Ideally the candidate would be comfortable working directly with the client as they integrate and test the web service. Senior Software Engineer Position Summary Work as a member of our Consumer Initiative software development team. The Consumer Initiative team is responsible for designing, developing, marketing and selling a new suite of decision support tools to help consumers become healthier and make informed (and cost-effective) healthcare decisions. This Consumer Senior Software Engineer will work closely with other team members to understand an existing Web Service implementation and then work independently to complete expansions and modifications to that system. Essential Duties/Responsibilities • Responsible for the overall design and implementation of portions of a subsystem/application. • Responsible for writing sections of technical specifications, generating innovative approaches and solutions to problems. • Provide detailed design, coding, and testing of software modules with limited direction from Development Manager. • Estimate, plan, and prioritize development work within domain, track and report on task progress, meet predetermined schedules and mandated deadlines and identify required adjustments. • Work independently on complex tasks. • Manage multiple and competing priorities. • Guide, direct and teach less-experienced staff members in a mentor-type relationship. • Produce well-written technical documentation. • Work within a structured development environment that includes design and code reviews, version control, automated unit testing, and automated builds. Follow a defined product development process. Other Duties/Responsibilities • Perform other duties as assigned. Supervision • Does not supervise others. • Directly supervised by Development Manager Job Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. • Exceptional design, code and testing skills • Capable of identifying issues and driving them to resolution • Ability to accomplish assigned duties on time and with very little supervision. • Excellent oral and written communications skills. • Ability to work independently in a team environment • Experience developing Web Services, including use of jax-ws, wsdl, ws-*, SOAP, cxf, xsd, spring, jaxb, ws-security. • Experience developing software applications with java technologies and relational databases including Oracle • Strong teamwork skills, 6+ years experience working as part of a development team.
