As far as I know, I installed a fresh fc6 in it's own partition, did yum update and yum install mythtv from atrpms. (maybe a separate yum install ivtv). After a fresh reboot and a fresh updatedb I do: ls -lu $(locate cx25840.ko) and get: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 298502 Nov 17 16:35 /altroot/lib/modules/2.6.11-1.27_FC3/ivtv/cx25840.ko -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 57096 Nov 4 15:43 /altroot/lib/modules/2.6.11-1.27_FC3/updates/drivers/media/video/cx25840.ko.NOT -rwxr--r-- 1 root root 35032 Nov 15 20:59 /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2798.fc6/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx25840/cx25840.ko -rwxr--r-- 1 root root 35032 Nov 17 16:42 /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2849.fc6/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx25840/cx25840.ko
(sorry for the formatting). cd /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2849.fc6/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx25840/ rpm -qf cx25840.ko kernel-2.6.18-1.2849.fc6 and rpm -V kernel-2.6.18-1.2849.fc6 returns an empty prompt. I sure haven't tried to recompile cx25840 and wm8775. I don't see how this could happen, unless fedora somehow ships with the wrong modules.
