Brian, your theory seems good. The problem doesn't seem to appear when I do this. I know Linux doesn't really have defrag utilities because it supposedly doesn't need them (well, that's not entirely true, I know there's at least one commercial one). So what can I do here to diagnose the exactly problem and hopefully fix it?
