Thanks!
I found the project here:
C:\myrobot\avrprojects\logic analyser\Arkadiusz Antoniak's Home Page.mht
I changed the microcontroller to a modern AVR (sorry) and adapted the
target code accordingly.

I don't think C# qualifies for crossplatform, does it?

I figured out the file format and got a basic version of the async
analyser, a c-program running. It reads the file and if the baudrate
is specified, it outputs the chars sampled. The structure I intend to
use is to describe events - things that occure at a certain point in
time, span a certail periode and have properties. This will allow for
multi-level analysis and decouples the analysis from the presentation
(even though that does not mean it has to be a different program).

The problem is that the source code of the pc program is not
available. And besides that, it is codebuilder - not cross platform.
Someone of the robotics club offered to redo the pc part and he has
choosen C# since that enables him to work 3 times faster then C++.
I'm hapy to ask him to reconcider a crossplatform GUI tool if you have
a suggestions. But it is important that the tool does not only present
the info, but also support makers, show the time of the mouse pointer
etc.

That's nice too! But since you're using a byte for each sample, why
not turn it into an analog scope?

See above for the current actions. I'll keep you posted (on this list
if no-one objects).
