If the device files contain the same info, you could sort them before you compare. Most of the statements in a device file are one line. What language will the generator be in? If python, I and others might be able to help. Can you post a new version of a (big) device file so we can think about comparing methods? I just programmed a big obscure PIC, the 18F67K22, where I use all but two pins. They all work.
