My script to generate device files is written in Rexx. But I don't see that this is relevant for comparing two sets of files.
I've very little experience with Python.
Can you post a new version of a (big) device file so we can think about comparing methods?
If I think I'm about ready I could post one of the files.
I just programmed a big obscure PIC, the 18F67K22, where I use all buttwo pins. They all work. Don't worry too much about untested parts of device files.
When the compile doesn't complain with the samples I'm pretty sure there are very few errors.
