Personally I've gone and just gotten comics that interested me, have
learned some through pokemon of all things =D Not sure how much
really little kids stuff, but a good number of popular comics are
designed for grade school kids in mind and have nice things like
furigana (the hiragana around kanji so you know how to pronounce it).
I've been trying to find good companies to order japanese stuff,
here's a summary of the ones I've tried...
Fujisan.com had a bunch of books and comics, and seems to work for me.
They're probably going to become my main company for ordering comics
and whatnot (got so many I want ^^) Amusedly, cheaper to buy them
from japan then to buy translated ones, atleast when getting a few at
a time.
animaxis.com looked good, but it's shipping was pretty expensive... it
also rejected my credit card, but might just be me.
jlist.com doesn't really carry kids comics or books, but they have
study materials that might be helpful, and supposedly can special
order, but haven't had any actually go through. Might be quite a wait.
Hope that helps. I lucked out in I have a local used japanese book
store nearby, reallly cheap. Ganbatte ne!
