How much of a beginner are you? If you're like, first semester and stuff, might I reccomend Doraemon?
If you're a little farther along, pretty much anything by Akira Toriyama (Dragonball, Dr. Slump, Sand Land) should be doable. A lot of stuff by CLAMP is also accessible to the beginner. Crayon Shin-chan wouldn't be too hard to follow, either. Actually, pretty much any short-story or three panel title ought to be good...even if you have to look up every single word, it's not very long, so the payoff comes fairly quickly. Doughnuts Books is another good one to look for in that regard. A lot of kid's comics are actually NOT very good for a beginner, believe it or not. I have translated, just as a hobby/study method, maybe 5000 pages of comics, including the entire Blame! series (low density, very high difficulty with lots of apparantly made-up kanji combinations), and Eden (not quite that bad, but much more text), and the most difficulty I've had was with "Cybork Kuro-chan." Few kanji to sort out ambiguities (lots of homonyms in Japanese), and lots of slang forms and non-standard grammar, stuff which isn't in most dictionaries. Anyhow, have a look.
