That is certainly true if you are creating a string from an object, or
concatenating strings. I don't believe that is true for static strings.
E.g., {code}logger.fine("closing cached reading reader");{code} you might as
well skip the Logger.isLoggable. In the case {code}logger.fine("closing cached
searchers (" + cachedSearchers.size() + ")");{code} it is certainly better to
check the log level first.
