Studio Max --> H-Anim --> Java --> the Web

H-Anim is the Web3d Standard for Human Animation,
it is based on VRML ( another Web3d Standard ) and
should be the path to export from Studio Max to Java
( Java3d or Java 1, if you're targeting the web )

From Studio Max export VRML-97 -- it may neeed
processing before it is ready for VRML viewers
and / or the Java VRML Loaders ... but fear not ...

Human Animation runs nicely with Java 1 and Java3D ...
( see links below ) -- I'm doing it -- you can too ...

If the export has non-standard interpolators they may
have to be filtered and converted ... if that is necessary
we should get a common solution and share it ...

We should move quickly to advance these technologies :
 - Java 1 for lightweight animation on the web now
 - Java3D for higher performance
 - VRML, portable graphics
 - H-Anim, portable Human Animation

We can advance Java and Human Animation by fixing
this export - import problem ... it has been a big obstacle
to the robust growth of Java Web Applications like
3d chat, multi-player games, and collaborative virtual
environments.

 Features :
 - YOU Control Human Avatars ( H-Anim ) : Walk, Jump, Run.
 - Java 1.1 runs on the web with VRML Avatars
 - Java3d, Java 1.1, VRML plug-in compatible avatars
 - links to IK software & Seamless Avatar solutions.

The same H-Anim files work for both Java 1 and Java3d, with a
custom blend of the Sun / Web3d VRML Loaders ( 0.90.2 & current ).

 | I have tried your approach, that is using VRML2.0 export
 | and then vrml loader, but failed, because the animation generated
 | by Biped, Character Studio contain non-uniform transformations
 | that the current loader does not support.

Please create a _ simple _ walk animation, export it as
VRML-97 and post the results on the Web so I and others
can look at it and work on a solution ... and post your own
solution if you have one and are willing to share it.

 | However, the export does export coordinate interpolator
 | (coordination interpolation) that can be used to replay the
 | animation. Unfortunately, I would like to use the exported
 | animation data to implement action combination or blending,
 | animation data in the format of coordinate interpolation is not
 | suitable for such applications.
 |
 | ... I wonder how you use the exported animation data with
 | vrml loader, just replay it in your application ...

Spazz3d and ParallelGraphics' Internet Character Animator
have support for adding animation to H-Anim Avatars ...
Spazz3d can also build H-Anim Avatars ... though it is in Beta,
I'm less familiar with the P-G product ... these are more
economical solutions ( $50 - $100 ? , free trial versions ? )

Human Animation with Java and H-Anim ( both ) are at a
critical stage with a lack of tools and lack of market
( given their is a lack of usable tools ) while competing
solutions are relentlessly advancing ...

The best solutions often lose ... the first often dominates.
