I made the mistake of buying a Seagate FreeAgent. There is a 'bug' in it's controller when you connect it to Mac OS X. This causes it to spin down after about 30 seconds of inactivity. Totally unacceptable. There was much bitching on the Seagate forum and there has been no fix.
