I know the feeling... :-(

I never worked for Sun but I always had them in high esteem for all the
incredible work they did, initiatives, research, ... Seeing them being
"erased" as quickly as possible is not exactly helping.

There's much blahblah about Sun being sick, bankrupt, bad, mismanaged and
other superlatives. But how did they manage to bring Java to this level then
? How come they were so much appreciated by us then ? By being money-wasting
incompetents ? :-)

Personally (*my* opinion) I very much doubt there is much interest at oracle
to keep any of Sun's spirit alive. And not because it's oracle, but because
it's oracle's kind of enterprise. If it's not generating money in the short
term, it not worth to keep it alive. As so many of our managers/leaders/...
are thinking today. They want the cashhhhh - *everything & now* ! And
I sincerely doubt there will be much Java-heroes or any high Java-profiles
at oracle either. It's not the organisation that will tolerate it very long.
They're not exactly keen about free spirits or people who might make shadow
to the sole allowed hero. And *that's* proper to oracle. At least it was
when I was there...

And now it's me who's going for chocolate. At least, there's no
chocolate-shortage in this country. ;-)
