Marilyn, I mainly use the JAWS cursor for navigating thru web pages. And use the PC cursor for reading emails and documents. But I haven't been using JAWS very long and I am sure that there are others on this list that can give you a better explanation of the difference between the two and how to get the most benefit out of each.
