Richard- I've got an NVIDIA GeForce 6100. I could not execute the driver-
got a 'windows no disk' error. (This may be related to the fact that my
local drive is 'I' not 'C'.) So I had to go to the control panel and try to
do it from there- which caused additional problems. I had to do everything
manually and had difficulty getting the wizard to look in the correct
folder- and was not sure it ever did. After the wizard completed, I did get
a video-intercept error, but am wondering if that is positive proof that the
driver installed or if it would also trigger the same intercept error if you
just re-installed the old driver. Then I lost all speech, including
Narrator. I called FS because I didn't just want to hit the off button
without talking to someone. After they directed me to hit the off, JAWS did
come up talking. I tried to verify that the driver really installed, but
could not verify this under the display adapters property under System in
the control panel. At the moment, I'm ready for a long walk on a short
pier. Not fun.

Hi Cher,
It depends on what type of driver file you have.
For example, if the driver you are wanting to install is contained within a
.zip archive, you will first have to extract the files.
On the other hand, if it is a.exe file, you simply need to run the
executable
and follow the on-screen prompts and the driver or drivers will be placed
where they need to be.
There are several other ways, but this may sound like to much already. smile
Why don't you give us some more details on what display driver you have, and

we can better guide you.
Whatever the process, it really is straight forward, and no matter what you
do, you will need to re-install the video intercept for Jaws.
If you need more help, you can contact me off-list, and I'll be glad to walk

you thru it.

Dear List,

JAWS and my video driver are not happy together, but I've never updated a
driver before. Think that I've found the correct driver, but what is the
safest and best way to do this and to undo it if JAWS quits working?

Cher
