I tried your suggestions, putting the information as you have it with the spaces. I got an invalid path. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

make sure your drive to be fixed is not in use.
BTW its not rude to ask any tech related question.

Try this fix:
press windows+R, and type cmd, then hit inter
type the following command, replace the letter "X" with your actual
external drive letter:

chkdsk /f X:

hit the inter key, and wait untell the process ends and close the window

hope it works for you.

The wholeproblem comes in as two problems. When I save a document, I get

But when I copy and paste a already created document onto it, it comes up

Ah. If your username is on it, then you are the owner. So ... I am also
at
a
loss. Can you post the exact message you are getting when you try to
save?
Have you tried copying a document from your C drive to the external? What
message do you get then? Is this only an MS office thing?

JM:
I followed your instructions, and my name is on the owner section. When
you
say user name, what exactly do you mean; as I have never set up any of
this
stuff previously. So, I am at a loss for clarity. Thanks.

HI.
Is this a prompt? As in, do you have the option to continue?

If not, you should try changing the "owner" of the drive.

Go to "this pc" and find your external hit.
Hit alt-enter to bring up the properties of the drive.
Select the "security" tab, by hitting right arrow from "general" until
you
hear "security".
Click the "advanced" button.
Check the owner of the drive.
To change it, hit the "change" link
Enter your username in the appropriate box.

You should be allowed full access. There are a lot of settings you can
adjust here, but I don't think you should need to mess with any of them.

Morning all.

I have an external hard drive that I have been trying to save a document
onto. However, when I go through the save as features and identify my
external, I get a message stating that I do not have administrative
rights
to this. Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem? I am using Word
13,
Windows 10 and JAWS 2018 on a Dell laptop. Thanks in advance.
