They are only there in the case of a person who might wish to use them as a
sub program kind of a deal. What that means is just like your Skype scripts
that place a use statement at the bottom of your default file you could do
the same thing with those files as well and it would work. Maybe an audio
tutorial on the subject would explain it better than I could by email.

David,

One point of clarification I need, looking in the downloaded
zip folder you reference below, in addition to the text file
there are two others named
startupgreetting.jsb
and
startupgreetting.jss

Do we need to copy these to the JAWS settings folder as with
some other scripts or are they there for another purpose

thanks
Al

I have re typed the steps.
I did add the direct download link, although, you can find
the link, on the

4. Press control + end to get to the bottom of the script
file, then do a
say-line, to make sure there is no text on that line, if
there is, press the
end key to go to the end of the line, then press enter twice
to create a new
blank line.
5. Paste the text from the clipboard.
6. Now,press shift+F2, to place you at the top of the
greeting script.
7. Next down arrow to the line that says:
Let UserName = ("YourName,")
and replace the text between the quotes with your own name,
being sure to
leave the comma at the end of the text.

;Change the version number in the above line to match your
version of Jaws.

down arrow to
the first If statement.
if (DefaultFirstTime == 0) then

blank line.
10. Then paste the following text on that blank line
StartupGreeting ()
11. Now, press control + S, to compile the script.

If the script compiles correctly, then Alt+ F4 to exit the
script manager.
You are done. If not, go thru the steps again and correct
any errors.
