Hi Anne, try the following. 1. with Word open, go to the menu bar right arrow to format and down to auto format and press enter. 2. tab to an options button press enter. This opens a multiple page dialog box. Listen closely as it opens up. I think it will open on the autoformat tab, press control and tab and this switches the pages and listen for "replace as you type". 3. Now tab through this list. One of the check boxes is Automatic number lists. Uncheck this, tab to okay, again tab to okay and I think this will fix the auto numbering.

I am writing a doc and I type 1. This is a test and press enter. Then 2 automatically comes up. Is there a way to automatically turn off this function? I know I can press enter twice but is there a way to shut it off?
