Verizon does use authentication, so in properties for account under server tab menu that should be checked.

I did notice something interesting though, after getting to accounts, I hear
it say, 1 of 4 choices and I only have 1 email account which should be
default and it indicates it is, but also in that list is, microsoft
community default, MSNEWS. Microsoft.com so can I remove these microsoft
choices?
I'm running Window's Mail here on Window's 7 Home 64-Bit.

Thanks,

Trish

Hello Jerald;
Did you make sure that both boxes were checked?
This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
Even though you typed 465,
In the outgoing, you most likely need to check the box,

I received the same message from Verizon, but when I changed my outgoing
port setting in Outlook Express from 25 to 465 as they recommend, my
outgoing messages went straight to my Out box and just sat there. So I
switched the outgoing port setting back to 25, and the messages got sent
normally. Do the geniuses at Verizon know what they're doing?
