As an inveterate XP user, let me see if I understand all the accessible email clients that work with Windows 7 and 8. 1. Windows Live Mail: Introduced in Vista, it is most similar to Outlook Express, but was dropped in Windows 7, which does not come with any email client of its own. But apparently, it can be made to work with Windows 7 with a few registry tweaks that should not be attempted by the timid or faint of heart. 2. Windows Mail: Not to be confused with the similar-sounding Windows Live Mail above, it works with Windows 7 and 8, but is not nearly as accessible or easy to use as the former. 3. Mail: Windows 8 supposedly comes with an email client simply called Mail, but nobody seems to know much about it. 4. Thunderbird: Not to be confused with the Ford sports coupe of the same name, an email client developed by Mozilla, the Firefox folks, that is supposed to be compatible with XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8. 5. Edora: An older email client that is no longer supported but still favored by some JAWS users that works with XP and Windows 7 6. Outlook: the email client that comes bundled with MS Office, it is compatible with JAWS and works with all versions of Windows. 7. Outlook Express: still a favorite with XP users because of its simplicity and ease of use, but does not work with higher versions of Windows.
