hello; you can also simpy uncheck/turn off  favorites,

go to view, alt+v


now use the tab key and enter on navigation pane,

now, you should use tab key, you should see favorites checked, use spacebar
to uncheck, now press enter.

I don't know why it comes, but you will notice that you probably have two in
boxes.
You want to get rid of one of them. So, I'll say what to do again and try to
make
it more clear. 
Open up your in box. Now, arrow up to where it says favorite folders. Now
hit your
application key, and see if you're in box is listed as one of your favorite
folders.  If it is, hit your application key again, and arrow down to where
it
says, remove this from my favorite folders list. This in box is your phantom
in
box, and you don't want it.  Hit enter there, and your fandom in box will
disappear, and you will only have one left. Try it and tell me how it turns
out.
