when on the desktop, I can either hit the application key, or the shift +
f10, then properties, but after I hit properties, there is no quick command
edit box. I want to do this on my desktop, not my laptop. win 7

Hi,
Go to the sub menu of the program (Jaws submenu, for example).
Press shift + F10.
Go to properties and press enter.
Tab to the quick command edit box.
Type control + J, for jaws for example.
The alt will automatically add it self.
Tab down to apply, then shift tab to ok.
And that's it.
HTH,
Jorge
