I don't have Windows8, so can't tell you exactly where it is there. It'll be in the equivalent of Control Panel, Keyboards, settings, layout tab control. Unless it was changed radically in Windows8, Easier to just play with the left alt+shift keys, and see what comes on. . Thus you would press left alt+shift keys, repeatedly if necessary, and when it says, "setting keyboard layout to US" leave it there. If you don't know how this setting got changed, accidentally pressing those keys together is the most likely way it happened.

Hi Flora and Mike. Thanks for the info. Mike, I did reboot the computer many times and it did not work. Flora, where do you have your computer set
to do what you said?

Hi Diane,

I've had this happen before with a different operating system but, rebooting the computer always resolved the issue. I'll have to sabe Flor's tip in
case it happens again.
Take Care.

 Hi,
you've probably changed the keyboard layout from the US keyboard to a European (or UK) keyboard. To restore it, the key may be, left alt plus shift. If you hear another setting, press those keys again and You will
eventually land on "setting keyboard layout to US".
