I think that happens when something goes wrong when Jaws starts and it cannot verify its license through internet. It could be your internet connection or their website at the moment of starting Jaws.
You can go to the Jaws windows, Help nenu and Update Authorization, no need to close and reopen Jaws. Authorize online, it is normally swift.
