Eric, you're right. I did it that way in pre-16 versions, so I'd know where I
was on the desktop and could start it without additional help.

However, these brief lapses are not what worry me. The bug that's driving me
nuts (and several of us have commented on it here) occurs when you have one or
more Internet apps open and everything goes into suspended animation--what one
user has termed Valium Mode. The PC cursor slowly shifts focus from app to
app, and good luck trying to capture one. One has to focus on one or more
Internet windows and keep tapping the left mouse button for all he's worth. If
he's lucky, all those windows will close, but the system will remain up.
Otherwise, it's a reboot--what a time waster! In 19 years I've not seen
anything like it.

Also, it is not necessary to move Focus to JAWS before doing the Dump Command
(WIN-INSERT-F4), at the point where JAWS seems to have hung. Anytime you do
that command, it is designed to force JAWS to dump and restart for you no
matter where you are when you do it. Please reach out to Support to describe
the scenario and see if they would like to log it along with the dump file.
They can assist you in getting that file to them. Whatever is going on, is
proving tricky to diagnose. Your help with our support team, would be
appreciated.

The 2nd step is not necessary, as when you kill JAWS with the
WIN-INSERT-F4 after the memory dump, it will automatically restart.

Carolyn, try this, if you can get it going at all. Maneuver over to the start
menu, make sure JAWS is highlighted. Then use the kill command (I think it's
the equivalent of Win-JAWS-F4) to really clear it out. Then, go the desktop
(remember, you should now be focused on the JAWS start
command) and load it again.

I try the Insert F4 thing, then Alt Control J always before the guess at
shutting down, but some of the time, that does not seem to work.
