I believe thumbnails refer to pictures and icons are ascii characters. so, if the option in the view tab is: You can apply the view (such as Details or Icons) that you are using for this folder to all folders of this type. and in the settings, the first item is set as: always show icons, never thumbnails-OFF changing this to on might help to retain the details setting? I'm also wondering if changing the view to list might make a difference?
