That one sounds like a safe one to uncheck; I'm surprised I've never done it
before now.

Hi Ted,
There is no real reason Adobe needs to be running until you need it.
Some programs run at startup so that they can be updated automatically, but if
a person is mindful of their system updates can be carried out during scheduled
routine maintenance.
On all of my systems, I have only 3 programs loading at startup:
MSE, Jaws and Auto-Sizer.
What programs should be running at startup will vary from system to system.

HTH,
Rick Justice

Tomorrow's another day, another way!
and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved!

What about Acrobat Reader? Why in the name of sweet reason should it be on
standby all the time! I'm as reluctant as anyone else to disable something
I know nothing about, but that one seems particularly ridiculous.

Ted

Well it's not your processor most likely at all. Rather the amount of stuff
that it is forced to process during the average cycle so far as programs
running at startup ETC.

Sadly to my way of thinking that most software venders believe their
products are so important that they should run all of the time instead of
only when needed.

For example I use a program called web drive to send things back and forth
to the server for you folks to download. A very important bit of software to
me but only needed for a few minutes every once in a while. Yet south river
technology thinks it should run all of the time which of course I refuse to
allow. Therefore that saves my system a lot of resources which otherwise
would simply go to waste.

Oh it takes a second or so longer to load when I launch it but I'm OK with
that minor cost of doing business.

David- My processor has been running very hard and I am told it is nearly
the end of its life. I have a laptop and I am told that replacing the
processor is not an option. How can I check my processor in case it has too
much trash and that is part of the problem?

Thanks in advance,

Wayne

I'm wondering if these items are related or not. I mention this since I have
a system here from a guy next door and he says for the past week more or
less processor usage keeps hitting 100% with nothing running.

I have removed a junk yard of temp files and worthless programs off the
system but processor usage still peeks out once in a while. Honestly I have
never seen disk cleanup remove 16.7 GB of for the lack of a better term
trash.

I also removed 39 programs from the system he no longer needs. So any
thoughts on the matter boys and girls.
