Hi Hicks, For a period after windows 8 was launched, windows media centre was a free add on for the professional version, so I didn't go through the same process. However I was given a product key (just like a windows operating system key), so I can reinstall it if I have to rebuild my computer.

I checked on the web initially and it seems that you have to purchase this on line, as an add on, has anyone been through this process that could give me some guidance? I am just wondering that once you have made the purchase, what happens if you have to re-build your machine, do you have to purchase Media Centre again? I have not yet activated the Windows 8 as I am still trying to decide on whether I will keep it or go back to Windows 7 but I would like to try to get used to it.
