Highly compatible would be over stating. Actually the access bridge is used to expose the java controls to adaptive technologies allowing jaws and others to access the information. As you see jaws can read nothing without the access bridge. The access bridge is included in the latest version of java but it needs to be turned on. I have not done this myself for a long time and I do not recall all the details.
