I did note that the current release from Sun is noted as "Early Access" but
groups with other extensions, such as JNDI. That would imply that perhaps
they will release the "final" version under the same type of licensing.

I also noted that, as the Java APIs go, JAAS doesn't appear to be the most
complex, and the developer's guide does clearly state that vendors are
"encouraged" to provide implementations of it. If the Open Source community
can do EJB, JTA, Servlets, etc, an implementation of JAAS should alos be
achievable...
