About the benefit... I don't know! ;-) I assumed it as a measure and I'm capturing it.
Maybe just to have memory deltas would be a good thing. But, as far as I know, Runtime.gc doesn't work as well as the calling from JVMPI or JVMTI. Anyway... the agents will be written and convert them to analyze deltas instead of JVMPI would not be difficult (The JVMPI implementation for the lite version is too small). What you think about go a little bit futher and take that decision in two/three weeks from now.
