I've fought a lot of firewalls for our production system
and they come in a *lot* of flavors. A very restrictive
firewall blocks all but a couple of ports whether the
connection originates from inside or outside the firewall
AND will even inspect the http header for port 80 packets
to insure that it is a fully formed browser request header
(i.e. simple GET doesn't get it).
Thankfully, most firewalls trust port connections that
originate from behind the firewall. Yours, Lennart, would
probably come under this grouping.
Unfortunately, the individual with the problem's firewall
doesn't trust those behind the firewall any more than it
trusts those outside the firewall.
