The JDE is a subclass of cc-mode, which is Emacs' code indenter package. So
everything that applies to cc-mode, applies to JDE mode. Put another way,
cc-mode IS the JDE's code formatter. So your question is really "How do I
get cc-mode to use tabs instead of spaces?" I've never attempted to do this
(personally I abhor tabs in source code). However, I've heard it can be
done. In fact, this is a FAQ on the emacs newsgroup. So if no one else on
this list can help you, your other resources are: the cc-mode section of
the Emacs online manual and the dejanus archive for comp.emacs and
gnu.emacs.help.
