OT: bash setup

Hi,

I apologize in advance for the off topic question.

After following the instructions on installing JDE, Emacs, etc., everything
works great.  However, whenever I start bash shell, I get this anoying
message:

bash.exe: warning: could not find /tmp, please create!

How do I go about setting it up so that bash sees my temp direcoty as /tmp?
