Tim, I'd encourage you to keep going, but seriously take a step back and 
reexamine what you're trying to do. Really. I told you, starting off, to 
think in small steps. You need to try to do that. If you can think in small 
steps, programming is *trivial*. If you persist in seeing only the 
large-scale problems, you'll never be able to actually accomplish anything. 
(This assumes that accomplishing things is, in fact, a goal.)

Again - step back. If this is a personal project and not homework, go 
through the Java tutorial, if you're hell-bent on using Java to begin with. 
I'd suggest not using Java at all; I'd suggest learning C, then Perl, and 
THEN Java... but YMMV. (I'm sure there are alarms going off everywhere now 
that I've said that.)

It's not a criticism of you - if your skin's so thin as all that, you're in 
for a rough ride, and not only in this field. It's a criticism of your 
approach. Get it right, and everything will go well.
