Looks like there can bee help to get here. And I
really need some.. I'm supposed to develop a
three-tier web-aplication before april and don't know where/how to
start!!! A bit embarassed to ask questions I know I could find the answer
too in books and with enough practice, I don't have the time and hope
someone will be kind enough to help me get started.
We have chosen Oracle database (8i) and j2EE. So
far we''ve been modelling and planning, and have made a test database.
Because the technology is new to us, the modelling (UML) has stolen a lot
of time and effort, but not really given a base to start building the
system. We're just studying Servlets and EJB but haven't really understood how
to use this well and what to use when. The modelling we're doing is based
on j2SE-experience and lots of "traditional" jaca-classes and we dont know
how to get to the next level.
So far we'vw used Forte, but was not very pleased
and have chosen to try JDeveloper with BC4J framework and hope to get
some things free there. Aware that we complicating things using an
unknown enviroment, we hope to get better quality (security,
scalability etc) of the application.
I have studied the book store example of
the DeitelDeitel book and a bit on the Pet Shop (but it's huge..) and
read about DAO and MVC I've also bought the JDeveloper
Handbook. But I need more input to understand which and what type
og components I should build. Can anyone give me some advice or a link to al
place where I can find a class-diagram that shows the structure of a application like this
or a comprehensive example (not as complex as the Pet
Shop)
Thank you!
