There are several nodes in a farm, thus the time of completion depends on load of all nodes. Thus, if jobC occupies one node and runs there for an hour, all instances of launched jobA will finish in an hour and one minute. 4) Why is their completion dependent on jobC in the description? jobA is scheduled to run every hour and check every node for some parameters. If any of the nodes is occupied, jobA will wait until it becomes free. jobA cannot skip any of the nodes, as it defeats the purpose of this job. 5) What is the configuration of jobA (i.e. what build steps, post-build steps, etc.)? Beside parameters mentioned in the description, there are following steps. Build periodically --> @hourly In Configuration Matrix, Elastic axis is used. Build Environment --> Tie parent build to a node Build --> Execute shell (we run some script) Post-build Actions --> E-mail notification 6) Also, "The number of running jobA should be bigger than number set in Max # of builds to keep" is there a situation other than what seems to be a nonsensical configuration that this issue occurs in? This situation arises easily, if one node is occupied for very long time for some reason. jobA starts every hour, in 12 hours (while jobC occupies the node) there is going to be 12 instances of jobA running.
