First
off I would like to commend everyone who has worked on developing this
solution. You have done a splendid job.
Now down to business.
I manage several small networks at locations scattered across the
US. Most of these networks consist of a router with a public IP
address doing NAT for a LAN that is using all private addresses.
Monitoring the main routers isn't a problem, but there are several
devices on the LAN that I would like to be able to monitor as
well. Is there a way I can do this with out putting a satellite
JFFNMS server at every location? Most of the devices I need to
monitor are capable of sending SNMP traps, but I'm thinking that
probably won't work because the traps will appear to be coming from the
gateway router. I've also thought about establishing a VPN tunnel
from my JFFNMS server to the gateway router, but that presents the
problem of multiple hosts having the same private IP address. Any
ideas would be greatly appreciated.
