I stopped reading Usenet newsgroups a few years ago when my ISP shutdown
their news server. I heard that there are servers outside of my ISP that
one can use.
Does anyone know of a third party server that one can use? Is it necessary
to pay a fee?
Thanks,
Tom

I've had Firefox crash on me just about every time I've run it, so I don't
feel the love enough to try Thunderbird.
I was looking for something a bite more freeware, though -- my fixed income
already seems broken at the end of each month, so expending anything on
software right now isn't in the budget.

Hmmm, I honestly don't think Thunderbird has ever crashed on me. I
investigated a little; it looks like they still make Forte Agent, but
I've never used it to know if it works with JAWS, and it's not free; it
costs $29.99. It's an old program that's been around since 1994. We
used to have clients who used it under Windows 3.1 back in the day. Now
it's Windows 8 compatible. www.forteinc.com for more info.
