If that's the command we also know as KillJAWS, it's a dandy, and can often
save a major reboot. Our phones an IP, so it's often imperative that we save a
session, or lose the call. You may get some funny errors at closing time, but
it'll save your bacon.

Mike,

This is not a cure, but a suggestion for how to minimize disruption. I have a
similar experience with IE11 on Win7 using JAWS 15. When IE gives up the ghost,
I shut down JAWS with the combination of JAWS key+Win key+F4. I wait a few
seconds, then ring back JAWS with my hotkey. Almost every time it enables me to
close IE and reopen it without having to reboot.

Note that this is not the standard close JAWS command, without the Windows key.

Reassured by his suggestion for how to eliminate the risk of deleting files in
the prefetch folders, I've just tested Tim Ford's suggestion. I can't say yet
if it will improve my IE performance, but my computer hasn't run up the white
flag, even after a reboot. So thanks, Tim.

Hi folks! I'm working with a gentlemen who is having issues with IE crashing
on him. He was using Internet Explorer Version 8.0, and we switched him to
Version 9.0. Unfortunately this has not totally eliminated the crashing. I'll
try to describe what is going on as best I can here. He tells me that he'll be
doing his normal job duties, when a message comes up on the screen, telling him
that Internet Explorer has stopped working, or has encountered an error. When
he clicks close, he often times loses speech. Most of the time, he ends up
having to reboot the system. I have advised him to reset the IE settings, and
start from scratch. Besides this, I wondered if anyone had any suggestions as
to what I could do to help him.
He is using JAWS 14.0.9002. He's not able to update to version 15. Based on
my experiences, this is more about IE than it is with JAWS, but it has an
affect on how JAWS performs.
