Actually, Wordpad doesn't deal only with raw text documents, and it can handle some heading stuff, as it'll handle rich text format documents and HTML. But it's a very basic word processing program, and though it's gotten some additional features since its inception (or conversion from Write) in Windows 95, it's still not full featured and it's not going to have the level of features you get in Word. The text only editor is Notepad.
