I don't have answers to all of your questions but here goes.
1. If you need to track special cursors you will probably need to write or
have scripts written for you for your applications.
2. JFW running in a DOS window does not work the same as a DOS screen
reader. You will have to create scripts for your application.
3. In different applications you may have to tell JFW that you are looking
at a listbox, combo box etc. When you are in the file list of the
application you are talking about press Insert+7. This will bring up *.jcf
file and you will hear Window classes dialog. Then you will hear the type of
window you are in. You can redefine how JFW looks at that window by
pressing the tab key and arrowing down through the different classes.
Look at the documentation for JAWS configuration files.
