beth this is a very good solution for a experience user.
another good solution is to use the dos box text editor with . txt files.
still for beginners a third party text editor makes more sense.
here is why.
file association is one reason.
the second reason is microsoft designed the editors in win 9 x to automatically
add the extension based on the tool
so word adds .doc automatically.
note pad adds . txt automatically.
while word pad uses the rich text extension automaticly.
so a new user can stick to this concept, which i think is pretty good, and not
have to worry about how to save the message.
one other thing third party text editors usually are better than note pad or
word pad.
though a beginner would never note this except when note pad stops reading
continuously when using the jfw read all command.
