The following message is from a friend of mine who is not currently on
the list, however, he wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing
similar problems with access32.
Let me say that I do not own access32 and had no part in the
construction nor later editing of the following message, so it could be
posted here, I'm just sending it. Please reply privately to me, and not
on the list.

Hello, Henter-Joice support, I am Thomas ward, and a user of JFW 3.2.09
and
Access32. My Serial number is12026.
I have two major problems of which I am not only upset or dissatisfied,
but
am in fact disgusted by.
1. The everlock key of which secures my JFW and Dectalk Access is not
Y2K.
This infuriates me to no end. One of the only reasons I bought JFW 3.2 is
because your web sight says, "Jaws is Y2K," but however everlock is not.
Oh,
and guess what if everlock is not Y2K then on Jan 1, 2000 JFW will come
up
and say, "Can not speak in restricted mode."
Which of course means, you guessed it, no blank screen reader, and no
software synth, because if JFW and Access, and Eloquence run off of the
same
piece of blank key none of it will work.
If that happens I can not use my PC. Now can you question my utter
disgust?
I know you have a new auth system named SQCPS which is suppose to be Y2K.
I
also have heard you charge $50.00 for it. However, I call it a rip-off
because yourweb sight JFW is Y2K, but it is not. So I feel you could help
yourselves out as well as myself by rectifying this act of false
advertising.
2. I use Dectalk Access32 on my laptop, and I would like to use it with
other screen readers such as Window Eyes, Window Bridge, PW Web Speak,
and
others besides JFW. Unlike your other clients I actually have the sense
to
evaluate other screen readers. A few months ago I e-mailed you asking for
your unlock policy concerning Access32. In short you said put JFW to
sleep
mode. However, since then I have been in contact with Synthavoice and
their
president unlike Ted Henter had the guts to e-mail me back concerning
there
unlock policy. Under their fingerprint system their screen reader, Window
Bridge, does not have to be loaded nor installed as long as a fingerprint
is
physically on the hard drive. I have also recently met a Window Eyes user
who has the GW Micro copy of Dectalk Access32. When I compare your copy
of
Dectalk Access to Synthavoice or GW Micro's I do not feel your so-called
unlock system is valid, but a pain in the butt.
Why is it a pain the butt? Well, for starts when I do it your way,
putting
JFW to sleep, I get recurring GPF's, lockups, and sometimes no speech at
all. I feel this would not happen if JFW didn't have to be loaded into
memory. "A system that is unstable, and sucks."
I know this because I downloaded a non-Henter-Joice demo copy of Dectalk
access, and I did not get these problems.You are so-called tech support
peopleput 2 and 2 together.
I have a feeling you are going to say something about the digital license
agreement you have with them. It calls for an unlock code. Excuse me, but
that piece of blank policy you have I do not feel nor consider an
executable
unlock code. I see it as a shaft, and a cheep butted way to get buyers to
either buy JFW or to keep JFW running on their systems.
Which brings me to a question dear tech support. If I had been a Window
eyes
user before a JFW user how would you sell Dectalk access to another user
without that P.O.S. you call JFW?
So, the way I see it you can do to do few things. 1. you can make my
Dectalk
Access Y2K. 2. Unlock the darn thing from your proprietary screen reader.
3.
I give you back the disk and return the money I paid for it.
