Hi George. Yes, this is a pain. I have the same issue. Here's what I do:
1. Hit the Windows95 key located between the Alt and control keysand the
letter m at the same time. My PC says "desktop".
2. Now hit the tab key 4 times. It will say "not selected my computer".
>From here, you should be able to access anything on your desktop.
