Hi George:

I will attempt to answer your questions in tern.

>>1. The speech synthesizer looses the rate of speech quite offen and I

You need to bring up the configuration manager (insert-6), press
Ctrl-Shift-d, (to choose the default scripts. Choose synthesizer options in
the set options. Then, reset the synthesizer frequency to 0. This should
help somewhat; however, it probably won't be 100% affective.

>>2. When I first boot up the computer, the focus is on "my computer" and

You are probably using the Windows 98 operating system. This is probably an
Explorer issue; in any case, it is well known and wide spread. If you
install the Internet Explorer 5.0 (beta,) the problem will be resolved. A
word of caution is in order here, however; you will have to rename the Jfw
Outlook Express scripts from the old name (msimnui.dll to the new
name(msoe.dll.) If these instructions are unclear, then please don't attempt
this as you may render your outlook express almost useless.

I hope that this has been of some help.
