suzan are you talking about a d v d movie?
the reason i ask is that a end user should be able to read the disk like any
other
drive.
so a phone book of the u s would be great on d v d.
this method of reading a dbd disk is differant from video, video on dvd needs
to be decompressed.
now another thing you need to realize is that d v d is done in three differant
ways.
the cheapest way is to use software decompression.
this really robs the system of c p u power, so much so i would not recommend
buying that type of d v d drive.
actually all the drives are the same.
its the method.
now another differance exist with respect to video cards and hardware
decompression.
in method one their is a card that decompresses m peg 2 files, it is the
decoder card.
actually this is true in both methods
so back to method 1, which creative labs uses, the signal is coming from the cd
rom to the decoder in both methods, but in method 1 the decoder card by
passes the main system video card.
because jfw depends on intercepting the signal to the main video card this may
be causeing your problem.
just a guess on my part.
in method 2 the signal from the decoder is fed to the video card.
the video card must support video inlaying to do this.
both of these methods use two irqs, a limitted system resource.
method 2 can over come this haveing to use 2 irqs in 2 ways.
software decompression is one way.
the other way is to integrate the hardware decoder into the video card.
on matrox cards this is done with a daughter card.
the a t i wonder is a all in one card.
this stuff is very new, eventually all cards will have this built in.
now you can see d v d is not standardized all the way, so the fact jfw has
this problem is not surpriseing.
i did call them awhile back, asking questions like this, their answer was that
they had not tested it.
