another suggestion, when using by directional support, one may have better
success setting the parrallel port to e p p instead of e p c.
e p c is a little faster, but not by much, and e p p seems to work better with
pass through ports.
also another possible problem can happen due to not enough d m a channels.
the way these faster parrallel ports are designed they use a d m a channel
to speed up the port.
the use of this can result in a d m a conflict.
especially if you have a lot of i s a cards that use d m a channels.
like scsi or sound cards.
p c i cards do not usually use a d m a channel, unless the user tells the
sound card to emulate dos.
so using p c i cards will usually keep this type of conflict from happening.
also be aware that if you set your system up for dcc, direct cable connection,
that if you use a serial or parrallel port, that port will also be assigned a
d m a channel.
the same is true for lap link.
