Hi,
I can't really believe that JFW performs disk access every time it speaks. Since a
screen reader like JFW is going to be
fairly resource and memory intensive, I can see constant disk access on the part of
JFW being possible if the computer
is low on free memory. That is the reason I always recommend purchasing as much
memory as possible, no less than 32
MB. Of course, the memory requirements will be even greater if a software speech
synthesizer like Eloquence or Dec-
Talk Access 32 is being used along with JFW.
My computer contains 128 MB of RAM, and had 64 MB before it was upgraded. In both
cases, even when Eloquence
was being used for the speech output, I did not have any problems with ScanDisk while
JFW spoke.
